It's interesting how time moves, we even go to the extreme, and say that time flies. Lately, I have been feeling old, perhaps it is due to my rapidly approaching birthday, but as I reflect back on the years the concept of time continues to intrigue me. Have you ever found that a day can sometimes feel like much longer than just 24 hours? Shoot, I've been in some situations where hours have felt like days. I spoke with a bosom buddy of mine yesterday and I can recall memories from years ago, that seem like yesterday. (ie. us making up dance routines on 'the stage' to the songs from Aladin). As I try to "use" my time wisely and try to "save" time or even as I "waste" time (unfortunately), I have come to one conclusion: I cannot slow time, pause time, or stop time, however much I wish I could! I hope in all of my time I gather the wisdom, joy, heartache, friends, and memories I can. In an attempt to remember all of those small things that happen day to day, I thought about writing down the highlights of the week. This will help me reflect over the past week (however quickly it flew or slowly it ticked by)... so that as the hours roll into days, days into weeks, weeks, into months, and months into years, I can remember where all that time went.
The highlights of the week would include:
1. Our heater got fixed! (we were without heat for almost 4 days thats a long time when it's a frigid 14 outside!... I told Andrew if it wasn't fixed by Wednesday, I wasn't going home... thankfully, it was fixed.)
2. I went snowshoeing with two of the women I work with after school on Thursday. It was a beautiful day and trail, plus we saw 7 deer.
3. Andrew had his first track meet and set a new personal record. It was nice to see all his hard work pay off. I believe that this would also be the highlight, according to Andrew (maybe for the past few weeks!)
4. Andrew and I visited a new restaurant in town, The Pizza Pie Cafe. It is an all you can eat pizza, salad, and pasta bar for $7. Neither of us were super hungry, but hopefully we ate at least 7 dollars worth! :)
5. I tried something new, and it made me happy! I was recently pulled over for not scraping at least 70% of my windshield. My smart dad gave me the idea of putting a bath towel over my windshield each night. The frost accumulates on the towel, not my window. As I venture out in the dark, cold, 7:00 hour, I pull that towel off and am on my way. No more scraping! (the sound alone is annoying enough... not to mention what it does to that poor right hand) Thanks dad.
I am looking forward to this week and hope to capture some more memories and enjoy the time I have.
Try it, it might make you happy too!
I know how you feel. It gets worse the closer you get to 30! Glad to hear that things went well getting back to school. What a hard transisiton that must be for you.
