Alamere Falls

How did I forget to blog about this adventure!? It was one of the most beautiful hikes I have been on, and Makayla's first real hike. Milestone. And, here I almost forgot to document it! Monday night (a few weeks ago now) Andrew left with Mike to set up camp. They had a great time hiking and camping on the beach for the evening.  Tuesday the girls, Amy, Makayla, and I drove to Point Reyes to join the boys for a picnic, before we headed to Alamere Falls for the hike.

It was 8 miles from start to finish- winding through beautiful eucalyptus forests, with fern covered floors, and sandy paths along a 400 foot cliff overlooking the ocean. Beautiful.

The trail ended here for the girls, while the boys shimmied their way down a ravine to capture the actual falls.

I was happy to hang out at the top and marvel at the beauty of Andrew's pictures.
Makayla loved the ride in the backpack, and it felt so good to be back hiking in "the mountains" - something that Andrew and I did a lot of pre-Makayla, but now hope to get back into again.

  1. Beautiful! It makes me so happy when families take their little ones hiking. We loved Point Reyes, but we didn't see everything you saw...certainly didn't shimmy down to a waterfall!
