Lyle Pearson 2014

Andrew participated in a 100 mile bike race that started up in the Sawtooth mountains and ended in Sun Valley, Idaho.  We stayed Friday night in Stanley. Our hotel room was right on the river. It was so full and fast that I felt like we were on a boat! Our view was breathtaking. Makayla was beyond thrilled to sleep in a hotel and have her own big bed!

She's really into (awkward) poses these days

Saturday we drove up a little further into the mountains to the starting line. It was a staggered start so the riders were all lined up and Andrew was off!! The route included 100 miles, 5,500 feet of climbing,  Up and over Banner and Up and down Galena. There were designated transition spots (there was also a 250 mile relay option) the kids and I would drive ahead, do some hiking and exploring, then get to the transition spot to fuel and feed Andrew. He was flying. He was fast and furious. I was a nervous wreck.

Doing a little hiking while daddy raced

He rocked it. 4 hours and 39 minutes- averaging 21 mph. He was the first rider to cross the fish line, but came in 2nd over-all, behind a pro. Go Andrew. It was a great experience for all of us- and I am sure he is already thinking about next Lyle Peasron 2015.

After the race we walked around the cute streets of Sun Valley and enjoyed pizza at a local place.
