Christmas Eve began at The Brick Oven for a Graham Family lunch. The entire family was there, so nice. (unfortunately, camera was in the car). Afterwards we headed home and exchanged gifts according to which name we drew. I love watching people open gifts, especially when it's the PERFECT gift for them. (Ross won by giving Vanessa something she has wanted forever her own copy of The Little Match Girl.- so sweet)

Birthday Cake
Later on that evening we watched The Nativity and read from the Bible. Then Erica introduced us to a Nielson family tradition, a Birthday Cake for Jesus. Glenn's family makes the same amazingly good cake every year in honor of His birthday. (I thought it was a great idea!) We all enjoyed it.
Christmas morning began with our own quiet Christmas. I have an incredible sweet and thoughtful husband, who got me just what I wanted... even when I didn't really know myself what I wanted! :) I think he also enjoyed his gifts. HIs favorite: his five fingered shoes. Mine? The new Nike Free Runs he got me. (Can't wait to run again!) We joined the Grahams just in time to see everyone opening up their gifts (I loved every second of it). It was so fun to watch the little girls open their gifts- while still trying to hold onto the previous gifts they had opened. :)
Then- the ultimate brunch took place. YUMMM... breakfast burritos, pull apart sticky bun, amazing fruit bowl, hot cocoa. Yes, we (I say we when it was probably just ME) gorged ourselves.
In order to not feel so ridiculously gluttonous, we piled on the gear and went up South Fork for some snow shoeing and serious sledding. It was a BEAUTIFUL clear, blue sky day. I have a great in-law family. We had a lot of fun.
He means business!
John and Andrew
After some hot chocolate and croissants we were rejuvenated and we hopped in the car with the Nielsons to go enjoy the Temple Square lights. They did not disappoint, and it was the PERFECT ending to a Christmas Day.

YAY! I am so glad you guys had such a nice Christmas :) Those Temple Square pictures are wonderful... only a matter of days until your little baby is here!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you both had a wonderful Christmas! I love the pictures, especially of temple square. Oh and I love the birthday cake for Jesus, what a great idea. How are you feeling? I hope great! I'm so excited for you to be a mama. You will be a fantastic mother to your little one. What are your plans as far as work goes once you have baby? Love and miss you.
ReplyDeleteHooray, happy Christmas! um, you don't look pregnant at all, I could hardly see the bump, I had to expand the picture to make sure there was a baby belly there. AH! You are so dang cute.
ReplyDeleteI love your Christmas! GREAT photos, but i'm with Ayrel here... stop being so itty bitty and put a little more heft into your meals! :) you're so freaking gorgeous and if i didn't love you so, i'd have to get stabby! i can't WAIT to meet your little stinker! oh and the birthday cake tradition looks awesome, as does the cake!!! AWE-SOME!!!
ReplyDeleteps. the five finger shoes you got Andrew is a great gift! those are freakishly bizzare, i just stare and stare and stare and stare and ... well, you get it, when i see someone wearing those. So just warn him, when I come over to play, he probably shouldn't wear those... my staring tends to make people feel weird.
love you sooo much!!!
