Father's Day

I am grateful for my daddio- who had put up with a lot over the years from me, but continues to love me.  I remember calling home when I was in college- all stressed out (get that from him) about classes, money (REALLY get that from him), schedules, graduating... and he would always be able to calm me down and realize my concerns weren't really problems. I recently found some old papers- one was a printed out bank statement from when I was in college.  Next to each transaction was a symbol or a note. Dad had gone through and decided which purchases had really been necessary, what were "needs" and "wants"... he then attached a copy of the outlined budget for the semester, which I am sure I stuck to. ;) Dad always had good intentions and tried to get me on board. ;)
Sometimes, on the days that I have to wake up early for something I can still hear dad singing the (dreaded) self-composed jingle that he would sing to Lauren and I to get us out of bed- "Hey little girls it's time to wake up! It's 6:00 and you are late!" ... oh the memories.
I have been blessed with a very special dad, one who has taught me the importance of the gospel, and budgeting, amongst may other lessons I hold dear.

Not only have I been blessed with a great dad- but so has Makayla.  We celebrated Andrew's second Father's Day today.  He is one special dude.  As busy as school keeps him, he is always there for little Makayla- to roll around with on the floor and tickle, to throw pillows at her and knock her down, (don't worry, she enjoys this- immensely!) or set her on his lap to color at his desk while he studies.  It has been so fun for me to watch Andrew evolve into the cute little dada that he is (by the way- Makayla NEVER says Mama- only Dada- she only signs Dada too- she probably says it 100 times a day- sometimes she walks around the house tapping her head saying "dada dada dada" over and over... should I be jealous?) ;) We all change, grow, morph, etc. as we become parents- but it is fun to see it happen to someone else.  Our kids our so lucky to have Andrew as their dad. I look forward to next Father's Day, when we will be able to celebrate with the little man that is moving and kicking around in my belly. :)

Happy Father's Day Andrew! We love you!
