Jamestown

Today, while waiting at the doctor's office, I got a text from Andrew.  The teacher for his 10:30-12:00 and 1:00-4:30 classes got pink eye-- so they were CANCELED! (first time a class has been canceled in a year- they even have to make up classes that fall on holidays, this is a very big deal) So, he suggested that we drive over to Jamestown, something that was on our "California to do list."
We started at Railtown 1897 State Park.  We really just saw a fraction of the park, and watched some videos in the visitors center.  Several movies were filmed there including Back to the Future 3 and several Little House on the Prairie  episodes. Three original steam engines are at the park. Pretty Cool.

Then we walked around Historic Jamestown.  Gold was first discovered in Jamestown in 1848-- brining in lots of miners.  There were a lot of fun antique shops full of the most random things you could think of, restaunts, and an old fashion candy/ice cream shop.  We had to get a shot of Miss Makayla expereincing a candy shop for the first time. :)

We also met John, who "educated us" on panning for gold, as the three of us panned for gold with him.

It was fun to spend some unexpected time together, especially after the last 2 weeks of midterms.  Eight tests in ten days has be rough!

  1. Sounds like a lot of fun! You'll have to come to the Jamestown on the East Coast sometime. Better yet, you should come to Boston and stay with us!
