Christmas 2013

This was our first Christmas to do all on our own, and it was so nice to spend it in our new home. Christmas eve was spent eating (per tradition) croissant sandwiches, relish tray, chips/dip, cherry 7-up, and plenty of Christmas goodies. Afterwards, we found some amazing Christmas lights to marvel at. We found a home that decorates (understatement) their huge garden and allows the public to walk through.  It was a lot of fun. Then we visited a home that had their lights synchronized to music on the radio. We could have watched it all night. So fun.
When we got home we watched Joy to the World, and sang hymns. Before going to bed we tracked Santa one more time on my phone, just to make sure he was headed our way, and we put some snacks out for Santa and co.
Christmas morning was so much fun watching the kids open and get so excited about their gifts. Makayla got what she wanted more than anything, a bike. She will tell anyone and everyone all about her bike. She has been out on several rides already, and is a pro. Jackson got a farm set and an airport. Let's be honest though, the paper they were wrapped in was more exciting to him ! ;)
We relaxed and played with the new toys.  We visited with many of our loved ones, including grandpa and grandma in Ghana.  We so look forward to their return in a month. We had a turkey dinner (since I got off easy on Thanksgiving;)). Makayla and I snuck away in the evening to see Frozen. We both loved it and wanted to watch it again as soon as it ended. We have been so blessed this year, way beyond measure. I loved the whole month of December. Each night we read a scripture story of Christ.  I know that Makayla learned more about our Savior this month, and that made celebrating His birth more meaningful.
Merry Christmas!
