Friday night was special. Andrew participated in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Doctor of Physical Therapy White Coat Ceremony. It was a nice ceremony, with the dean, professors and alumni sharing nice remarks, but the best part was watching Andrew proudly walk onto that stage and receive his white coat. Maybe I need to repent for bursting with pride, but I know how hard Andrew has worked to get here. I couldn't stop the tears from welling in my eyes as I thought about the hours of preparation and the determination he put forth to get him onto that stage. It was an awesome feeling, such a proud moment.

I know this is just the beginning of a very challenging two years. I have seen the hours that will be required of him and it's just the beginning, but I look forward to a ceremony that will be similar to this one, in two years, when he will get a new coat, which will be longer. Signifying that he has obtained his doctoral degree. I'm sure the tears will flow again!
Makayla was one of two babies in the audience. (the pressure was on...one thing I miss about Utah, there were ALWAYS more than 2 babies.., so your's could be loud and no one would know!) I felt like I held my breath the entire time hoping that she would stay happy and quiet... (sometimes her happy sounds are just as loud as her unhappy cries!) Afterwards, we enjoyed yummy food at a reception, there, Miss Makayla was highly praised by many for being such a good baby. She loved every second of it. The little ham.
It was an honor to participate in such an event. It was neat to sit in the audience amongst friends and family members of Andrew's classmates, who were just as proud as I was. I felt like we were all cheering them on together at the beginning of a long hard journey! Good luck!

Congratulations, Andrew!
ReplyDeleteAnd good job, Miss Makayla, reminding all those fertile couples in the audience that their biological clocks are a'tickin' and they shouldn't wait to have kids! :)
This is so great—congratulations to Andrew and to you Kristen (I'm sure you helped a lot). Good luck as you start your two-year adventure!
