Ever since Lauren and Evan headed east, I have been wanting to visit them in Virginia. The opportunity finally arose, and I had a blast! As soon as I got home I wanted to start looking for a ticket for my next trip out there. Thank you Moore Family for a wonderful vacation. I tried to capture the trip through pictures...
I arrived on Sunday night (later than plan after Makayla and I missed our flight... causing us to fly standby all day long, and I mean long, like 5 hours in the Chicago airport long) and on Sunday Sweet Simone was blessed.
Monday we went to the beautiful D.C. temple and walked around the visitor's center. It was an amazing time to be there- blue sky and vibrant fall colors.
Oh, before we went out to Maryland, we stopped at Evan's work. To get to Evan's work we passed this beautiful old church and cemetary. It was a part of the civil war historical trail. So neat to have such history and beauty in the neighborhood!
After Monday the days melted together. So... who knows exactly what happened when...:) We did go to old downtown Fairfax, super cute.
We ate at Potbellys.
We went for a stroll around a lake in Lauren's neighborhood. It was getting dark, so you can't quite tell just how beautiful the colors were!
Nana sent the babies some matching PJs... you would think we would be able to get one picture of the girls both looking. Nope. Makayla loved Simone way too much. It was a constant battle to protect Simone from Makayla's affection headbutts, biting teeth, and scratching fingernails!
We took a drive through the country to a small town called Cliffton. The drive was beautiful and the city was quaint. We walked down main street and through some of the cute shops.
Beautiful fields and homes on the way out...
Friday night we went out to eat at a Great American restaurant- so yummy~
waiting for the table
Saturday we were big girls and drove the 18 minutes into D.C. You can only do and see so much with a 2 hour parking meter limit, a 3 month, and a 10 month old. But I think we did pretty well considering the circumstances. :)
It was so funny because just as we came up over the hill and saw this:
the Star Spangled Banner came on the radio. It was almost too perfectly planned!

An importnat item of business on our agenda was to get a cupcake from the famous Georgetown Cupcake, from TLC's DC Cupcakes. We navigated ourselves on over to M street, found the shop, and the mile long line out the door and up the street. Another time I suppose.
Washington
Georgetown was fun to drive through. What a neat place.
After our big city adventures we headed back and found ourselves at Wegmans for lunch. This was also on our list of things to do. Wegmans is a grocery store, like I have never seen! Underground parking, elevators and a restaurant in the middle of the place.
We had a treat on Monday, it was Anna day!! I met Anna my freshman year at BYUI. She started out as my next door neighbor then turned into a roommate then to a best friend. It was so fun to visit and catch up! Lauren and Anna= 2 very good reasons to live in VA ;)
Our last day we drove out to Burke Lake Park. It was raining, so we did't get out much, but enjoyed the scenery all the same.
The cute Moores... thank you for a wonderful time!
This little girl is gowing up so much... we had to show daddy how big those teeth were getting while away! :)
