I have a husband again! Andrew COMPLETED his FIRST SEMESTER of PT school. He worked hard and did very well. To celebrate he ran his first half marathon! (Celebration?!)
Friday we took off to Walnut Creek. Such a nice, pretty city. We dropped our bags at the ritzy Motel 6 and then headed over to the Broadway Shopping Plaza, where they had every store you could think of. We had fun window shopping and enjoyed a sandwich at Panera.
Saturday morning Andrew and Mike (Mike was the one that got Andrew on board this adventure) caught the shuttle at 5:45 am to the starting line. Makayla, Amy (Mike's cute wife) and I headed over to the 5k starting line about 2 hours later. :) The 1/2 started at 7, while our started at 8. We had fun... Miss Makayla wasn't in the running mood, and let everyone (in a 1/2 mile radius) know! :)
After our "run" we headed over to the finish line looking for the "real runners" ;) Andrew had already finished.. 40 minutes earlier. He attacked those 13.1 miles and finished in an 1 hour 23 minutes. He came in 12th out of 1, 233 people. WOWsers. I think he even surprised himself. It was fun to see him get all excited and competitive again- took me back to the "old" track days. :)
Afterwards we headed back to the hotel to thaw (it was a COLD morning) and shower. Then we headed over to Sunrise Bistro with the Moores for a delicious brunch.
Walnut Creek isn't too far from Oakland, so we thought it would be nice to go walk around the grounds and visitors center at the Oakland Temple. It was beautiful.
We had a great time. I was in heaven, being able to spend hours and hours with Andrew without a book or looming test! YAY! I am going to savor the next 4 weeks.
